Export & Import Policies

Governed by DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) under India’s Foreign Trade Policy.

• Import:

  • Steel imports are on the “Free” list but must comply with BIS standards.

  • Quality Control Orders (QCO) are enforced to prevent substandard imports.

• Export:

  • Mostly “Free” unless restricted by government intervention (duties, bans).

  • Export incentives under schemes like RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products).
